IMPORTANT RACE INFORMATION

EVENT DATE: 10.00am Sunday 6th January 2013

EVENT VENUE: Kingston Flyer Railway Station, Kingston, Otago

Race The Train (12km) Run / Walk (inc Transport to Start) Adults $35 Under 16 $25

Race The Train (5km) Run / Walk (No Transport required) Adults $15 Under 16 $10

*PLEASE NOTE only the first 300 people to enter the ‘New Balance Race The Train 12km Trail Run and Walk’ will have the privilege to travel to the Start of the Race in Fairlight on the iconic Kingston Flyer Steam Train. The price of the ticket is incorporated in to the Race Entry Fee. Be quick to enter if you want to travel to the Start on the Train. As an added bonus you will be able to look over the run course en route!

Once the Train has reached its full capacity (300); transport to the Start will be available via Coach and the price of this ticket is also included in the Race Entry Fee.

A Luggage Truck will be located at the Fairlight Railway Station to transport personal belongings to the Finish Line.

SPECTATOR TRAVEL SERVICES / PRICES: Coach and Train

If you are keen support your runner/s and watch the race up close – a pre booked ‘Coach & Train’ service will be available for spectators. These tickets can be bought ONLINE at the time of Entering at a cost of $20 per person… This price includes Transport from Kingston Railway Station to Fairlight Railway Station via Coach and then on board the Kingston Flyer to watch the race and support the runners on the way back to Kingston Railway Station…

*PLEASE NOTE If you Enter the ‘New Balance Race The Train 12km Trail Run and Walk’ on the day of the race YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN TRANSPORT TO THE START LINE.

You can also travel to the Start Line using your own transport – however you will be responsible for making your own way back to the Start after completing the race to collect your vehicle. If you choose to use your own transport to get to the Start Line and stuck for a lift back to collect your car; No worries – The Kingston Flyer will be making a trip back to the Start at Fairlight Railway Station at 1.30pm. A Special rate of $20 per person will be available for this service on Race Day.

PARTICIPANTS TRANSPORT TO THE RACE START:

Race The Train (12km) Run / Walk – Boarding the ‘Kingston Flyer’ and Coaches will commence at 8.45am and depart Kingston Railway Station at 9.00am and arrive at Fairlight Railway Station at approx 9.30am. Tickets are to be collected at the Race Registration area.

SPECTATOR TRANSPORT TO WATCH THE RACE:

Boarding the Coaches will commence at 8.45am and depart Kingston Railway Station at 9am and arrive at Fairlight Railway Station at approx 9.30am. Boarding the Train at Fairlight Railway Station will take place between 9.30am and 9.55am prior to the Start of the Race at 10am. Tickets are to be collected at the Race Registration area.

REGISTRATIONS:

ONLINE entries will be available for the 12km event up until 12pm Midnight on Saturday 5th January 2013. *However if you require transport to the start of this event you must enter before Midnight on Sunday 30th December 2012. If you enter ONLINE for the 12km Event after Midnight on Sunday 30th December 2012 participants will be responsible for their own transport to the Start of the race.

Manual Race Entries available at The Frontrunner in Queenstown up until 7pm on Saturday 5th January 2013.

RACE PACKS: All Race packs to be collected on RACE DAY

RACE NUMBERS: Numbers will be allocated on RACE DAY

OFFICIALS: All participants to follow Markers (RED ARROWS) on course/s and follow instructions of Race Officials

DRINK STATIONS: Participants are responsible to carry their own Drinks / Food – however Water will be available *approx Half way* on the Run Course and at the START / FINISH area

CHANGING FACILITIES & TOILETS: All amenities available at the Fairlight and Kingston Railway Stations

PRIZE GIVING: The Prize giving will take place approx 11.30am at the Kingston Railway Station

CAR PARKING: There is plentiful car parking opposite and near to the Kingston Flyer Railway Station and Fairlight Railway Station – please follow the signs and directions of the Race Officials

REFRESHMENTS: Refreshments can be purchased at the Kingston Flyer Railway Station

WASTE: Please dispose of any waste in the rubbish bins provided

FIRST AID: First Aid Facilities will be on hand and located at the START / FINISH area

MASSAGE: Massage will be available near the FINISH area for a minimal fee

RACE RULES:

There is ‘ONE RULE’ that everyone must abide by and that is at no time whatsoever will participants challenging themselves against the Train come within the 20 METRE BOUNDARY LINE of the Train at any stage of the Race once the Event is underway. Any person found not abiding by this RULE will be disqualified. NO EXCEPTIONS! We will be watching!
