Event registrations will take place at the Event Hub at Queenstown Events Centre on Sunday 11th April 2021 between 9:00am – 11:00am.
*The event is capped at 800 participants therefore Online Registrations will close as soon as the event capacity is reached. Last years event sold out within the first two weeks so get in quick!

SUPPORTING COMMUNITY PROGRAMMES
The Colour Burst is all about promoting community and visitor participation in a fun, safe and welcoming environment. A percentage of monies generated from the Colour Burst event will go back into supporting and developing valuable community programmes including Kids Games and Leisurely’s.
EVENT REFUND POLICY:
If in the unfortunate circumstances a participant must withdraw from the event due to ill health or injury – NO REFUNDS will be allocated – only race entry transfers to the following year or race entry transfer to another participant will be permitted. Should you need to withdraw and / or transfer your race entry – please notify the Race Director as soon as possible.
EVENT START TIMES:
From 11:30am onwards. We will gather everyone behind the start line and then set groups of people off in waves so as to spread out the participants between the colour stations. There will be live music at the event hub to keep you entertained before and after your adventure…
An event briefing will take place on the start line approx 10mins before the official start… Everyone must be present…
WHAT TO WEAR:
It’s going to be a colourful adventure so we recommend you wear clothes and footwear you won’t mind getting colourful and maybe a little bit wet and dirty!
*We also recommend that you bring with you a garbage bag to put your colourful garment and footwear in to after the event.
There will be FIVE Colour Burst Zones around the 4km course and each zone having its own designated colour. So you can only imagine how colourful you’ll look by the time you cross the finish line! Colour Zone throwers will endeavour to aim low to avoid direct contact with participants eyes and many will wear sunglasses or goggles.
The weather in February is generally quite warm with temperatures ranging between 18 – 24 Degrees Celsius with light winds on higher ground. At the same time with the event taking place in an alpine environment the weather can also change at any time. We recommend you dress appropriately according to the weather conditions on the day.
OFFICIALS / CHECK POINTS / DRINK STATIONS / COURSE MARKING:
Participants are responsible to carry their own food and hydration for the event – however Water, Energy Drink and Jelly Beans will be available at the start and finish line.
The course will be well marked with fluorescent pink tape and red directional arrows to guide you. Please follow these markers, do not deviate from the course and obey the instructions of the race officials at all times.
In the unlikely event of an emergency, first aiders will be located around the course and at the START / FINISH. Qualified personnel will be assessing participants during the race to make sure that everyone is in a fit and good physical condition to continue.
CHANGING FACILITIES & TOILETS:
There will be toilets and changing facilities located near to the start and finish areas.
There is designated car parking near to the start and finish area within the grounds at Queenstown Events Centre. Please look out for CAR PARKING signs and follow directions of Race Officials.
Refreshments will be available at the finish line whilst at the same time the Event Hub is located only a stone throw away from the Remarkables Park Town Centre and Five Mile Shopping Centre therefore there is an abundance of cafes and restaurants close by together with many shops… Perfect for those last minute Christmas Presents!!!
Please make sure that anything you take on to the course is disposed of in the rubbish bins provided at the checkpoints and at the finish line. LITTERING WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION.
In the unfortunate situation a participant must withdraw from the event you must inform the nearest checkpoint staff and wait with them until the last participant passes the checkpoint and then be escorted – transported to the finish line accordingly.
In the unfortunate circumstances a participant has an accident during the race – please (if you can) make your way to the nearest checkpoint and notify the first aid staff. If a participant cannot make it to the next checkpoint as a result of injury – the participant must stay in the area of cause of injury and does not deviate from the course whilst also use their compulsory gear as required whilst also notifying other participants of their injury for them to in turn notify the next checkpoint staff. Whilst waiting for assistance the participant must stay in the location where they obtained their injury and the first aid team will come to them.
Should another participant assist another injured runner; they are to take note of the time spent assisting the injured person and this time will be deducted from their overall time upon notification at the finish line.
It is recommended that participants traveling from overseas obtain appropriate travel insurance taking in to consideration they are taking part in a sporting event in the event of a medical emergency.
COLOUR CARE AND WHAT TO WEAR
Your race pack will include a white ‘Colour Burst’ t-shirt *for all those registered before 27th December 2019, however we encourage you to dress up as wacky as you can and in as much white as possible. There will be spot prizes for the craziest outfits so dress to impress!
The powder is made out of corn starch and non-toxic pigments. These colorants are impermanent, meaning the colour should easily wash out of clothing – we recommend dusting off as much powder as possible before you wash your garments. The dust may be irritating to eyes so we recommend closing eyes as you go through the colour stations. If you are concerned about the powder entering your mouth or eyes, it may be a good idea to wear sunglasses and use a bandana or dusk mask.
A tip for the blondes – in some cases the colour likes to stick to blonde hair and can take a few washes to get out. If this concerns you, we suggest covering your hair or using a hair oil to make it easier to wash out.
Cover your car seats with towels or rubbish bags to avoid a rainbow explosion in your car.
Anti-dandruff shampoo and baking soda will help wash out any stubborn colour on your body.
