We first held this event in 2012 and 2013 and it was a huge success. Sadly the train has been out of action for several years but now back on track and full steam ahead!

REGISTRATIONS:
Online Registrations Open at 12:00pm (midday) on Monday 15th November 2021.
Online Registrations Close at 7:00pm on Friday 14th January 2022.
Registrations will be available on the day at the Kingston Railway Station between 7:30am – 10am unless sold out prior.
EVENT DAY REGISTRATIONS:
Participants across all events can collect their race packs / race numbers from the event hub near to the start / finish located behind the Kingston Flyer Cafe on the day of event between 7:30am – 10:00am.
EVENT REFUND POLICY:
If in the unfortunate circumstances a participant must withdraw from the event due to ill health or injury – NO REFUNDS will be allocated – only race entry transfers to the following event or race entry transfer to another participant will be permitted. Should you need to withdraw and / or transfer your race entry – please notify the Race Director as soon as possible.
If the event has to be cancelled as a result of severe weather conditions including heavy rain, hail, snow, wind or severe heat or reasons beyond control *NO REFUNDS will be allocated – however registered participants will be eligible to register for the following years event benefiting from a discounted 20% off registration fee.
Under special circumstances event race registrations may be transferred to another Active QT event.
PLEASE NOTE: In the unfortunate circumstances January’s event has to be cancelled due to Covid-19 all pre-registered participants entries will be automatically transferred to the re-scheduled event. Under special circumstances race registrations may be transferred to another Active QT event.

COVID-19 LATEST UPDATE – VACCINE PASSPORTS / QR CODES
Just a friendly reminder in order for us to host this event safely whilst adhering to the Ministry of Health regulations and guidelines around mass gatherings – all participants and spectators at the event must be double vaccinated against Covid-19 to attend the event and must have Vaccine Passport readily available for our team to scan accordingly at the time of registration on the day.
After your vaccine passports have been scanned all those attending the event will also be required to scan the QR Codes.
EVENT DAY LOGISTICS:
*12km event – participants in the 12km event can park their vehicles in the car park area near to the finish line opposite the Kingston Flyer Cafe and simply catch the train to take them to the start of the event.
Train tickets must be purchased at the time of online registration

RACE BRIEFING:
A Race Briefing will take place approx 10mins prior to the event start.
PERSONAL ITEMS:
Please leave any personal items locked in your vehicle or in the designated areas near to the start and finish lines.
DROP BAGS:
For participants in the 12km event – you will be able to leave a small bag containing personal items in a designated area at the start of the event in Fairlight. Drop bags will then be transported to the finish line in Kingston.
WEATHER / RECOMMENDED CLOTHING:
The event takes place in the height of summer where temperatures range between 18c – 24c however with the nature of the event taking place in an alpine environment the weather is susceptible at all times therefore we do ask participants to dress appropriately according to the weather conditions on the day.
OFFICIALS / CHECK POINTS / DRINK STATIONS / COURSE MARKING:
Participants are responsible to carry their own food and hydration for the event – however Water and Energy Drink will be readily available at the START / FINISH area. The course will be well marked with fluorescent pink tape and red directional arrows to guide you. Please follow these markers, do not deviate from the course and obey the instructions of the race officials at all times.
FIRST AID:
In the unlikely event of an emergency, first aiders will be located around the course and at the START / FINISH. Qualified personnel will be assessing participants during the race to make sure that everyone is in a fit and good physical condition to continue.
TOILET FACILITIES:
Toilets will be available will be located near to the START / FINISH areas.
AWARDS CEREMONY:
An awards ceremony will take place at approx 12:30pm near to the FINISH area located next to the Kingston Railway Station.
In the event of bad weather and inability to host an outdoor awards ceremony after the event – category and spot prizes will be made available for collection post event.
CAR PARKING:
There is plentiful parking available near to the START / FINISH areas. Please look out for the car parking signs and follow the directional instructions of race officials.
REFRESHMENTS:
Refreshments will be available at the Kingtson Railway Station
WASTE:
Please make sure that anything you take on to the course that needs to be disposed of after use is either taken home with you after the event or disposed of in the rubbish bins provided at the START / FINISH. Littering will result in disqualification.
RACE WITHDRAWAL:
In the unfortunate situation a participant must withdraw from the event you must inform the nearest checkpoint staff and wait with them until the last participant passes the checkpoint and then be escorted – transported to the finish line accordingly.
ACCIDENT REPORTING:
In the unfortunate circumstances a participant has an accident during the race – please (if you can) make your way to the nearest checkpoint and notify the first aid staff. If a participant cannot make it to the next checkpoint as a result of injury – the participant must stay in the area of cause of injury and does not deviate from the course whilst also notifying other participants of their injury for them to in turn notify the next checkpoint staff. Whilst waiting for assistance the participant must stay in the location where they obtained their injury and the first aid team will come to them.Should another participant assist another injured runner; they are to take note of the time spent assisting the injured person and this time will be deducted from their overall time upon notification at the finish line.
INSURANCE:
It is recommended that participants traveling from overseas obtain appropriate travel insurance taking in to consideration they are taking part in a sporting event in the event of a medical emergency.
