*Covid-19 Latest Event Update:

Sunday 23rd January 2022

Hope everyone’s having a great weekend.

For sometime now we’ve been planning behind the scenes if in the unfortunate situation New Zealand might move to *RED in the new traffic light system…

Guided by regulations set out by the Ministry of Health; we’ve implemented the required safety measures to host this years event albeit structured a little differently from the norm for the safety and well-being of all involved.

In the coming days we’ll update you with further event details as more information comes to hand from the New Zealand Government.

In the mean time, stay active and we will keep you posted with further updates.

Friday 22nd October 2021

*Aoraki Mount Cook Marathon – postponed to Saturday 12th February 2022

I hope you are keeping well and staying active.

At todays COVID-19 press conference the New Zealand Government announced the next stage of the COVID-19 response plan by developing a new Traffic Light system to replace the current Alert Level way of life as we know it.

From our understanding having read the latest Ministry of Health Guidelines and listened to the the latest updates, Auckland will remain in Alert Level 3 and the rest of the country in Alert Level 2 for the time being. Once 90% of the population of those whom reside in each of the regional DHB’s have been fully vaccinated, each region will enter in to the new Traffic Light system.

With the above information at hand, adhering to government regulations, guidelines and the health, safety and wellbeing of participants and all involved with the event, it deeply saddens us to inform you that this years Aoraki Mount Cook Marathon event on Saturday 6th November 2021 has been postponed to Saturday 12th February 2022.

We know this isn’t the news you wanted to hear and appreciate it is terribly frustrating however the current situation is out of our control.

All participants registered to date will have their race entries automatically transferred to Saturday 12th February 2022. If you cannot attend the re-scheduled event your race entry will be transferred to next years annual event on Saturday 1st October 2022 or an alternative Active QT event in 2022.

On a more positive note, you now have more time for training and will be even better prepared for an adventure amongst the mountains during the summer of 2022.

In the mean time, stay active and we will keep you posted with further updates.

Today the New Zealand Government announced that all of New Zealand with the exception of Auckland remaining in Alert Level 3 will remain at Alert Level 2 for the time being and a new ‘Traffic Light’ system replacing the current Alert Level system will be announced at the next Government press conference at 10:00am on Friday 22nd October 2021

At this stage this years event is still scheduled for Saturday 6th November 2021.

Whilst in continued consultation with regulatory authorities, stakeholders and sponsors around this years event, decisions made by the Government with regards to the new traffic light system; information relating to events and mass gatherings won’t available until after the next Government announcement on Friday 22nd October 2021.

This event can only take place in Alert Level 1 when mass gatherings over 100 people are legally permitted.

If the event has to be re-scheduled to a later date we will endeavour to notify participants as soon as possible and participants event entries will simply be transferred to the re-scheduled event. If a registered participant cannot attend the re-scheduled event their event entry will automatically be transferred to the following year’s event.

At the next Government announcement on Friday 22nd October 2021 we will hopefully have clearer understanding around the new Traffic Light system and guided accordingly.
