Sadly the 2025 Mt Isthmus Traverse has been postponed to next year.

Over the last few months, we have been experiencing a tremendous amount of rain in the region which has unfortunately damaged tracks and trails on event course.

Last year, in the 24hrs leading up to the event there was 87mm of rain. In September this year there was over 200mm rain and most recently even more rain in the last few weeks with no sign of slowing up. It’s been the wettest Spring i’ve experienced in a very long time.

Like with any event, the challenge, fun, camaraderie and scenery are primarily the biggest draw cards and this is high on the list for all event directors but so is the risk factor; taking in the consideration the health and wellbeing of all involved including participants, crew, marshals, volunteers, safety vehicles and medics.

Postponing the event hasn’t been an easy decision however we simply cannot risk hosting an event whereby our crew and medics not being able to get to a participant or team member in the event of an emergency.

There are several sections of the course that are severely damaged as a result of all the rain in recent months and simply not possible for our crew to access these sections of the course and this is a risk we simply can’t take should anyone need medical attention.

We have looked at several options to change the course for this years event however this has also been problematic and not possible.

In the coming weeks, once the rain has eased and the land has dried up we will evaluate an alternative course on the privately owned station and will update you with our plans soon. We have a course in mind but needs some attention but sadly won’t be ready in time for this year.

We totally appreciate you will be disappointed to hear this news. We’re absolutely gutted.
